Scraplet Skein Wrap
This incredible wrap makes brilliant use of Knittique's own Scraplet Skeins; each skein's colors appear in the same sequence (although the actual yarns in each skein varies), as shown in this wrap.
Ranchos, the colorway used here, starts with blue and ends with coral, so when I used up the first skein (starting with the blue end), I simply started the next skein at the opposite (coral) end. Beautiful! And did I mention that the Feather-and-Fan stitch pattern is really easy? Really!
Materials:
2 Colorway Series Scraplet Skeins (each approximately 120 yards)
U.S. #13-15 needles (14" long will work best).
Finished size:
about 16" wide and 67" long.
Gauge:
This is approximate, since there are so many different yarns in the Scraplet Skeins, but your gauge should average about 9 stitches/4".
On to the knitting!
Cast on 38 stitches (try to cast on fairly loosely). Continue in Feather-and-Fan stitch pattern as follows:
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit 1, * knit 2 together 3 times, (yarn over, knit 1) 6 times, knit 2 together 3 times.
Repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
Row 4: Knit
Repeat these 4 rows until you have enough yarn left to bind off loosely
(you should allow at least 2 yards for this).
Congratulations-- it's a Scraplet Skein Wrap!

You need to know how to: Cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over, knit 2 together, bind off.
Here's how to work the yarn over: Bring the yarn to the front between needles, then wrap yarn over top of right needle to back of work.
Here's an idea for making just 1 Scraplet Skein go a long way: Using our Free Pattern, start knitting with your Scraplet Skein in the Feather-and-Fan pattern stitch, and continue until five sections of yarn have been used.
Attach a coordinating yarn of your own and continue for as long as you want, then attach the rest of your Scraplet Skein again to finish.
Gorgeous (and oh-so-thrifty)! |
